On 25 November 1944 the crew took off from Baku Airport at 01.50 local time for a night training flight. The training flight was planned to be carried out at an altitude of 1000 m and to last 2 hours 30 minutes. On board the aircraft were a captain, a flight engineer/instructor, a radio operator/gunner, as well as three pilots and three flight engineers observing the flight. While cruising at an altitude of 1000 m, a fire broke out on the aircraft and it crashed into the Caspian Sea off Baku. Several pieces of the wreckage were found a few days later on a beach in Baku.
