NTSB narrative

The pilot reported that he had completed an agricultural spray operation and was returning to land. He stated that the airplane got too low on the approach and descended into the soybean crop off the approach end of the runway. The airplane impacted the end of the airstrip and the landing gear collapsed. He stated that everything on the airplane was operating normally and that the accident resulted from pilot error by coming in too low and allowing the airplane to contact the soybean crop. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage near the landing gear mounting area.

Probable cause

The pilot’s failure to maintain a proper glidepath during landing which resulted in a landing short of the runway.

  • Unreviewed is an editorial label, not an investigation status. API-sourced is not report-checked or human-reviewed. Explicit event totals are used without summing aircraft injury tables; onboard allocation is withheld. Unknown values remain unknown. The operation category is mapped from the NTSB-reported FAR part and has not been reviewed.
  • Filled from the NTSB case API where the bulk record had no value: local date, investigation status, coordinates, cause areas. Values present in the bulk record are kept.
  • The date is the local date; the NTSB stores the UTC date 2025-08-26.
