NTSB narrative

On March 2, 2008, at 1443 coordinated universal time, a Cirrus Design Corporation SR-22, Brazilian registration PR-AIO, was destroyed when it impacted terrain shortly after takeoff from Jacarepagua Airport (SBJT), Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The pilot and the three passengers were fatally injured. The flight was conducted under Brazilian flight regulations.

According to preliminary information provided by the Brazilian government, shortly after departing from runway 20, the airplane's engine lost power. The airplane subsequently impacted a building and exploded. Further investigation revealed that prior to the accident flight the airplane had been refueled with "JET A-1" instead of gasoline.
