The An-12 accident near Kyiv was an aviation accident that occurred on 12 December 1990. An An-12B cargo aircraft of the Antonov KAPO was operating a domestic cargo flight on the Batumi — Kyiv route, but on approaching Kyiv the crew accidentally shut off the fuel supply. The crew, trying to start the engines, did not turn on the fuel supply, and the flight engineer, realising that the fuel supply was shut off, tried to turn the supply on, but failed. Soon afterwards the aircraft made an emergency landing in a field, struck a hillock, crashed into the Boryspil—Brovary highway and broke into 2 parts. None of the 17 people on board (12 passengers and 5 crew members) were killed; 14 people were injured.
