Mi-8 crash at the Trebs oil field

The Mi-8 crash at the Trebs oil field was an aviation accident that occurred on 7 December 2014 in the area of the Trebs oil field in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, involving the Mi-8TV helicopter RA-06138 of the airline "2nd Arkhangelsk United Aviation Detachment". On board were three crew members and four passengers; two people died, and the rest were injured.

The helicopter was flying at the request of OAO "Bashneft" on the route "Kolva" helipad — helipad of the Bashneft field support base at the Roman Trebs oil field — "Kolva" helipad. After two passengers disembarked and cargo was unloaded and loaded (with a total weight of 400 kg), without shutting down the engines, at 13:03 the crew departed for the "Kolva" helipad. 2-2.5 minutes after take-off, at a height of 215-250 m, the left and then the right engine successively shut down on their own. The crew took measures to make a forced landing and tried to start an engine. While landing with the engines inoperative in conditions of reduced visibility, at a flight speed of 110–120 km/h and a vertical rate of descent of 6–8 m/s, the helicopter collided with the ground in tundra terrain with a right bank of about 20° and a negative pitch angle of about 4°, 2.4 km south of the helipad of the field support base at the Roman Trebs oil field. The helicopter was destroyed. There was no fire at the site of the event.
