The Il-12 with registration USSR-L1343 was operating a flight from Krasnoyarsk to Omsk, and it was flown by a crew headed by the captain (PIC) N. G. Yaroshenko. At 08:30 the aircraft departed from Krasnoyarsk airport. There were 25 people on board: 5 crew members and 20 passengers.
At 08:45 the aircraft reported a drop in oil pressure in the left engine. The Il-12 was then at a height of one thousand metres.
