From the Wikipedia article
The Beechcraft King Air PR-SOM accident occurred on 19 January 2017. Among the passengers who died in the crash was Supreme Federal Court justice Teori Zavascki, then rapporteur of Operation Car Wash at the STF, and the businessman Carlos Alberto Filgueiras, owner of the Emiliano hotels. The pilot Osmar Rodrigues and two more women, Maíra Lidiane Panas Helatczuk and Maria Hilda Panas, also died.
Accident
The flight left Campo de Marte airport, in the city of São Paulo, at 13h (Brasília time), bound for the town of Paraty, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, but the aircraft fell into the sea near Ilha Rasa, about half an hour after taking off, at a time when it was raining in the area of the crash.
Investigation and cause
Investigation
The Federal Police and the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office opened inquiries on the same day as the accident to investigate its causes, and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights called for a swift and careful investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
The day after the accident, the Aeronáutica (Air Force) recovered the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder black box. The aircraft did not have a flight data recorder black box. The aircraft was removed from the sea on Sunday the 22nd and transported to Rio de Janeiro for examination by the Aeronáutica.
On 23 January 2017, the judge of the 1st Federal Court of Angra dos Reis, Raffaele Felice Pirro, ordered the investigations into the crash to be kept confidential. Preliminary analysis by the Aeronáutica "does not indicate any abnormality in the aircraft's systems" and there may have been spatial disorientation of the pilot.
