The 1992 Taiwan Airlines accident off Lan Yu occurred on 10 April 1992. On that day a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, which was operating a domestic scheduled flight of the Taiwanese regional airline Taiwan Airlines from Lan Yu to Taitung, crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff following an engine failure.
