The An-2 crash was an aircraft crash that occurred on 11 May 1974.
Vitali Gavrilov, the commander of an An-2 aircraft carrying out agricultural-chemical aviation work in the Qax–Zaqatala region, organised a drinking party that evening on the runway of Qax airport together with workers and local residents who had entered the airport without permission. After that, they boarded the An-2 aircraft he flew and went to the Zaqatala district for a joyride. On the way back from there to Qax airport, because it was night and under the influence of alcohol, the pilot Vitali Gavrilov crashed the aircraft into the ground.
